Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise), so that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth. Ephesians 6:1-3

Ruth Fannette Leick Davies – Jan 1, 1899: This is my husband Ric’s, Grandmother Ruth Fannette Leick as a young girl of age 6. I referenced a black and wife photograph taken at a studio in Owatonna, Minnesota on January 1, 1899. This drawing is done in charcoal on white 98 lb paper. Grandma Davies was born in February of 1892, so this would make her almost seven years old at the time of the photo. She was born on February 18, 1892. She married Thomas Rees Davies, (Ric’s Grandfather) on February 6, 1920 in Los Angeles, California. She died in 1969. The only mention in the Bible about a Grandmother per se is in II Timothy 1:5 regarding "Lois," and her great faith and how it passed to Timothy’s mother and then to him. A Grandmother’s influence is strong and can have great significance in the family unit. With Grandma Ruth, it certainly did. Even in this picture of a 7 year old, I can sense the strength, yet sweetness of a blessed being, one who would love her family and be dearly loved by them. Even though I never met her, I feel as though I had, and I love her dearly too! Thank you Grandma for loving all of us. We all still feel it, even now! NFS
